Kery James, born Alix Mathurin on December 28, 1977, in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, is a French rapper and singer. He began his music career in 1991 as a co-founder of the group Idéal J, which released two albums, including "Le Combat Continue" in 1998. After the group's dissolution in 1999, James embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album "Si c'était à refaire" in 2001. This was followed by successful albums such as "À l'ombre du show business" (2008) and "Réel" (2009), both achieving high positions on French charts. James is known for his lyrics addressing social issues and life in the suburbs of France.
