The Kölner Streichsextett is a chamber ensemble founded in 1997 by Demetrius Polyzoides and Uwe Ender with the aim of performing chamber music for string sextet with a fixed lineup and continuous collaboration. The members hail from different countries and have extensive experience as soloists and chamber musicians. In addition to the classical-romantic repertoire, the ensemble is dedicated to contemporary music, premiering works by composers such as Augusto Valente and Wolfgang Danzmeier. The group has recorded for radio, released CDs, and performed concerts in Germany and internationally. In 2000, they received recognition for their performance of Beethoven's 6th Symphony arranged for string sextet.
