Kurtis Blow, born Kurtis Walker, is an American rapper and producer who became the first rapper signed by a major record label in 1979. His debut single, "Christmas Rappin'," sold over 400,000 copies, followed by the hit "The Breaks," the first gold-certified rap song. Throughout his career, he released 17 albums, including "Kurtis Blow" (1980), "Deuce" (1981), and "Ego Trip" (1984). His track "If I Ruled the World" from the album "America" (1985) became one of his biggest hits.
