Lafayette Afro Rock Band was an American funk group formed in 1970 in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York. Shortly after their formation, they relocated to France, where their music incorporated rock and African elements. Their albums "Soul Makossa" (1973) and "Malik" (1975) feature tracks "Hihache" and "Darkest Light," which were later widely sampled in hip-hop songs. The band disbanded in 1978.
