Lemmy Kilmister was a British musician, known as the founder, lead vocalist, bassist, and primary songwriter of the band Motörhead, which he established in 1975. Prior to that, he was a member of Hawkwind from 1971 to 1975. Motörhead released 22 studio albums, including the 1980 album "Ace of Spades." The band won a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Metal Performance with their cover of Metallica's "Whiplash." Lemmy was recognized for his unique bass playing style and distinctive gravelly voice.
