Lyrics Born, born Tsutomu "Tom" Shimura, is a Japanese-American rapper, singer, and producer. Born in Tokyo and raised in Berkeley, California, he co-founded the duo Latyrx with Lateef the Truthspeaker and is a member of the Quannum Projects collective. His debut solo album, "Later That Day...," was released in 2003. In 2022, this album was listed among the "200 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time" by Rolling Stone. His most notable track, "Callin' Out," was included in the "100 Greatest West Coast Hip-Hop Songs of All Time" in 2023. In 2024, he released his tenth album, "Goodbye, Sticky Rice."
