Markus Burger is a German pianist, composer, and music educator born on September 30, 1966, in Wittlich, Germany. He studied at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen under Peter Herborn, John Taylor, Simon Nabatov, and Uli Beckerhoff. Known for blending classical music, jazz, and improvisation, his notable albums include "Spiritual Standards" (1999) with Jan von Klewitz, "Ultreya" (2003), and "The Vienna Sessions" (2022). He has collaborated with artists such as Joe LaBarbera, Bob Magnusson, and Peter Erskine. Burger is a professor at Fullerton College and San Diego State University.
