May Okita is a Japanese vocalist who spent several years in Los Angeles, honing her musical expression with leading mentors and jazz partners. Before returning to Tokyo, she recorded the album "Art of Life" with pianist Josh Nelson and guitarist Larry Koonse. The album features interpretations of songs such as Bernstein and Comden's "Some Other Time," Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," and Lou Carter, Herb Ellis, and Johnny Frigo's "Detour Ahead." The album was released on May 3, 2019, by Origin Records.
