Medeski Martin & Wood is an American jazz trio formed in 1991 in Brooklyn, New York. The group consists of John Medeski (keyboards), Billy Martin (drums), and Chris Wood (bass guitar). Their music blends elements of jazz, funk, and hip-hop, resulting in a unique style often referred to as "avant-groove." Notable albums include "Notes from the Underground" (1992), "It's a Jungle in Here" (1993), and "Shack-man" (1996).
