Nathan Milstein was an American violinist of Ukrainian origin, renowned for his technical perfection and interpretation of the classical repertoire. He recorded with prominent orchestras and conductors, including the Vienna Philharmonic under Claudio Abbado. Among his most significant recordings are "Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin" and "Beethoven: Violin Concerto". Milstein received a Grammy Award for Best Classical Performance by a Soloist with Orchestra for his recording of Brahms' Violin Concerto. His contributions to violin literature also include his own arrangements and cadenzas.
