Nicola Benedetti is a Scottish violinist born in 1987 in Irvine, Scotland. She studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and won the BBC Young Musician of the Year award at age 16. She has released several albums, including "Szymanowski: Violin Concerto No. 1" (2005), "Homecoming – A Scottish Fantasy" (2014), "Elgar" (2020), and "Baroque" (2021). In 2020, she won the Grammy Award for "Best Classical Instrumental Solo" for the album "Marsalis: Violin Concerto; Fiddle Dance Suite". In 2019, she founded the music education charity The Benedetti Foundation, and in 2022, she became the director of the Edinburgh International Festival.
