Noir Désir was a French rock band from Bordeaux, active between 1980 and 2010. The band consisted of Bertrand Cantat (vocals, guitar), Serge Teyssot-Gay (guitar), Frédéric Vidalenc (bass guitar, later replaced by Jean-Paul Roy), and Denis Barthe (drums). They released six albums, two of which achieved double platinum certification in France. Their most notable song, "Le vent nous portera" from 2001, reached number one in Italy and number three in France. The band was associated with genres such as rock, alternative rock, and post-punk.
