Patricia Kopatchinskaja is a Moldovan violinist renowned for her innovative approach to classical music. Born in Chișinău, Moldavian SSR, she comes from a musical family; her mother was a violinist and her father a cimbalom player. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and later at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern. Kopatchinskaja is known for her wide-ranging repertoire, encompassing works from classical composers to contemporary music. She has collaborated with notable artists such as Fazıl Say and Sol Gabetta. Her accolades include a Grammy Award for the album "Death & The Maiden" with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
