Pestilence is a Dutch death metal band founded in Enschede in 1986. Known for their technical approach to death metal, they are considered one of the "big four" of technical death metal alongside Death, Atheist, and Cynic. Their most notable albums include "Malleus Maleficarum" (1988), "Consuming Impulse" (1989), "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991), and "Spheres" (1993). After several hiatuses and lineup changes, the band continues to create and release new material, with their tenth studio album, "Portals," planned for 2025.
