Pete Rock & CL Smooth were an American hip-hop duo from Mount Vernon, New York. They debuted in 1991 with the EP "All Souled Out" and released the album "Mecca and the Soul Brother" in 1992, which included their best-known track "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)". Their music blended East Coast hip-hop and jazz rap, with Pete Rock recognized for his production skills and CL Smooth for his philosophical lyrics. In 1994, they released "The Main Ingredient".
