Peter Kooij is a Dutch bass singer specializing in baroque music. He began his international career in 1981 under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe with La Chapelle Royale and Collegium Vocale Gent, performing works by Johann Sebastian Bach and other baroque composers. From the mid-1990s, he participated in recording Bach's complete cantatas with the Bach Collegium Japan under Masaaki Suzuki. Kooij is renowned for his interpretations of Bach's bass arias and cantatas. Since September 2005, he has been teaching singing at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.
