Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was an American rapper from Brooklyn who gained prominence in 2019 with his single "Welcome to the Party." He was a pioneer of Brooklyn drill, a genre influenced by UK drill. His debut mixtape, "Meet the Woo," was released in 2019, followed by "Meet the Woo 2" in 2020, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard 200. After his death in 2020, his debut album "Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon" was released, reaching number one on the Billboard 200. Pop Smoke collaborated with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Quavo, and Travis Scott. In 2021, he posthumously received five Billboard Music Awards, including Top New Artist and Top Rap Album.
