Primal Scream is a Scottish rock band formed in 1982 in Glasgow by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie. The current lineup includes Gillespie (vocals), Andrew Innes (guitar), Simone Butler (bass), and Darrin Mooney (drums). The band is known for transitioning from indie pop to alternative rock and electronic music. Their breakthrough album, "Screamadelica" (1991), produced by Andrew Weatherall, fused rock with dance music and won the inaugural Mercury Music Prize.
