Quatermass was a British progressive rock band from London, active between 1969 and 1971. The trio consisted of bassist and vocalist John Gustafson, keyboardist J. Peter Robinson, and drummer Mick Underwood. In 1970, they released their sole album titled "Quatermass," which featured the track "Black Sheep of the Family." This song was later popularized by the band Rainbow on their debut album. After the band's dissolution in 1971, the members pursued various musical projects. In 1994, Underwood and original Deep Purple member Nick Simper reunited for the Quatermass II project, releasing the album "Long Road" in 1997.
