Ramesh Shotham is an Indian percussionist and drummer born in Madras. He began as a self-taught drummer in the rock band Human Bondage in the 1970s. Later, he studied traditional Indian percussion instruments like the thavil and mridangam. In 1980, he came to Europe with an Indo-jazz fusion band and has been active there since. He has collaborated with artists such as Rabih Abou-Khalil, Charlie Mariano, and Steve Coleman. He has released albums like "Madras Special" and "Urban Folklore". His music blends jazz, fusion, and world music.
