Raul de Souza, born on August 23, 1934, in Rio de Janeiro, was a Brazilian trombonist renowned for his contributions to jazz and funk music. Throughout his career, he collaborated with artists such as Sérgio Mendes, Milton Nascimento, and Hermeto Pascoal. His notable albums include "Sweet Lucy" (1977), "Don't Ask My Neighbors" (1978), and "'Til Tomorrow Comes" (1979). De Souza was known for his innovative approach to the trombone and his ability to blend traditional Brazilian rhythms with jazz and funk elements. He passed away on June 13, 2021, at the age of 86.
