Roswell Rudd was an American jazz trombonist and composer known for his work in free and avant-garde jazz. In the 1960s, he was a member of the New York Art Quartet, collaborating with John Tchicai. His notable albums include "Everywhere" (1967), "Flexible Flyer" (1975), and "Malicool" (2002), the latter featuring a collaboration with Malian musician Toumani Diabaté. Rudd was recognized for his innovative approach to the trombone and worked with artists such as Archie Shepp and Steve Lacy. He received accolades like "Trombonist of the Year" from the Jazz Journalists Association in 2003–2005 and 2009–2010.
