Samaris is an Icelandic electronic music group formed in 2011 in Reykjavík by Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir (clarinet), Þórður Kári Steinþórsson (electronics), and Jófríður Ákadóttir (vocals). Their music blends atmospheric electronic sounds with lyrics inspired by traditional 19th-century Icelandic poetry. Their debut album, "Samaris" (2013), compiled tracks from their two previous EPs. This was followed by "Silkidrangar" (2014) and "Black Lights" (2016), the latter being their first album recorded entirely in English. The band has received accolades such as the Músíktilraunir and Kraumur Award and has performed at festivals including Roskilde and Sónar. The products available from the artist Samaris include CDs.
