Sargeist is a Finnish black metal project founded in 1999 by guitarist Shatraug of the band Horna. After releasing the demo "Tyranny Returns" in 2001, he was joined by Hoath Torog and Horns from Behexen, forming a stable lineup until 2016. Their discography includes albums such as "Satanic Black Devotion" (2003), "Disciple of the Heinous Path" (2005), and "Let the Devil In" (2010). Their lyrics focus on Satanism, anti-Christian themes, and misanthropy. The band's name combines the German words "sarg" (coffin) and "geist" (spirit), inspired by the song "The Old Coffin Spirit" by Rotting Christ.
