Simply Red is a British soul and pop band formed in Manchester in 1985. The original lineup included Mick Hucknall (vocals), David Fryman (guitar), Tony Bowers (bass guitar), Fritz McIntyre (keyboards), Tim Kellett (trumpet), and Chris Joyce (drums). Their debut album, "Picture Book" (1985), featured the hit "Holding Back the Years," which reached number one in the USA. Other successful albums include "A New Flame" (1989), "Stars" (1991), and "Life" (1995). The band won the Brit Award for Best British Group in 1992 and 1993.
