Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D.) was an American crossover thrash metal band formed in 1985 in New York City. The group consisted of Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Dan Lilker (bass), and Billy Milano (vocals). Their debut album, "Speak English or Die," released in 1985, is considered a seminal work in the crossover thrash genre. S.O.D. was known for its fast-paced songs, aggressive riffs, and short track lengths. During their career, they also released "Bigger than the Devil" in 1999 and the live album "Live at Budokan" in 1992. The band had a significant influence on the development of thrash metal and hardcore punk.
