Superchunk is an American indie rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, formed in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Mac McCaughan and bassist Laura Ballance. The band is known for its energetic style and strong DIY ethic. Notable albums include "No Pocky for Kitty" (1991), "Foolish" (1994), and "Majesty Shredding" (2010). Superchunk was influenced by bands like Buzzcocks and Sonic Youth and has, in turn, influenced many alternative rock bands.
