Sylvester was an American singer and songwriter, known as the "King of Disco". Born in Los Angeles, he rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" and "Dance (Disco Heat)". His 1978 album "Step II" achieved platinum status. Sylvester was a pioneer of the Hi-NRG genre and collaborated with producer Patrick Cowley. He was also a significant figure in the LGBTQ+ community, and his music had a substantial impact on the dance music scene.
