cd - Tartit

Tartit is a musical group from the Timbuktu region of Mali, consisting of five women and four men, all Tamashek speakers. Formed in 1992 in a refugee camp in Mauritania, their music, known as "desert blues," combines traditional Tuareg instruments like the tehardent and imzad with hypnotic rhythms and vocals. Notable albums include "Amazagh" (1997), "Ichichila" (2000), and "Abacabok" (2006). Tartit has collaborated with artists such as Afel Bocoum and Ali Farka Touré and performed at festivals including the Festival in the Desert. The group is also involved in preserving Malian music and culture through educational initiatives. The products available from the artist Tartit include CDs.
