The Absence is an American melodic death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 2002. Their debut album, "From Your Grave," was released in 2005, followed by "Riders of the Plague" in 2007 and "Enemy Unbound" in 2010. After a hiatus, they returned with "A Gift for the Obsessed" in 2018 and "Coffinized" in 2021. Their music blends aggressive thrash metal with Scandinavian metal influences. The band was previously signed to Metal Blade Records and later to M-Theory Audio.
