The Beautiful South was an English pop rock band formed in 1988 in Hull. The group consisted of Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway, former members of The Housemartins, along with David Rotheray, Sean Welch, and David Stead. Their 1989 debut album, 'Welcome to the Beautiful South', featured hits like 'Song for Whoever' and 'You Keep It All In'. In 1990, they achieved a UK Singles Chart number one with 'A Little Time'. The band was known for their ironic lyrics and melodic compositions. Throughout their career, they released several successful albums, including 'Blue Is the Colour' and 'Quench'.
