cd - The Cannonball Adderley Quintet
Julian "Cannonball" Adderley was an American jazz alto saxophonist who gained prominence in the 1950s and 60s. After playing in Miles Davis's sextet, contributing to albums like "Milestones" and "Kind of Blue," he formed his own quintet with his brother Nat Adderley. Their 1966 album "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Live at 'The Club'" features the hit "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." Adderley was known for his contributions to the hard bop and soul-jazz genres. The Montreal performance in May 1975 was one of his last before his untimely death in August of that year.
