The Cat Empire is an Australian jazz/funk band formed in Melbourne in 1999. Their 2003 debut album, "The Cat Empire," achieved triple platinum certification in Australia. The follow-up album, "Two Shoes," released in 2005, debuted at number one on the Australian ARIA chart. Their music blends jazz, funk, ska, and rock with strong Latin influences.
