The Celibate Rifles were an Australian punk rock band formed in 1979 in Sydney. Their debut album, "Sideroxylon," was released in April 1983. In 1987, they released "Roman Beach Party," recorded at Dureco Studios in the Netherlands during a tour. The band was known for their energetic guitar sound and straightforward lyrics. Throughout their career, they released nine studio albums and extensively toured Australia, Europe, and the USA. Frontman Damien Lovelock later pursued a solo career and worked as a television sports presenter. The band ceased activity in 2019 following Lovelock's death.
