cd - The Impressions
The Impressions were an American soul vocal group formed in 1958 in Chicago. Originally known as The Roosters, the group consisted of Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Gooden, Richard Brooks, and Arthur Brooks. After the departure of Butler and the Brooks brothers, the lineup stabilized with Mayfield, Gooden, and Fred Cash. The group was known for hits like "It's All Right" and "People Get Ready," which became anthems of the civil rights movement. Their music combined elements of R&B, soul, and gospel. In 1991, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mayfield left the group in 1970, but The Impressions continued recording and performing until 2018.
