The Incredible String Band was a British psychedelic folk band formed in 1966 in Edinburgh. Originally a trio consisting of Clive Palmer, Robin Williamson, and Mike Heron, they became a duo after Palmer's departure. The band was known for their innovative albums such as "The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion" (1967) and "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" (1968), which combined traditional folk with psychedelic elements. Their music influenced many artists and contributed to the development of world music. The band disbanded in 1974 but reunited between 1999 and 2006, continuing to perform.
