The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was an American blues and blues-rock group from Chicago, formed in 1963. The original lineup included vocalist and harmonica player Paul Butterfield, guitarist Elvin Bishop, bassist Jerome Arnold, and drummer Sam Lay. Later additions were guitarist Mike Bloomfield and keyboardist Mark Naftalin. Their debut album, "The Paul Butterfield Blues Band," was released in 1965 and reached number 123 on the Billboard 200 chart. The follow-up album, "East-West," released in 1966, peaked at number 65. The band was known for its unique blend of blues, rock, and jazz. In 2015, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
