The Peanut Butter Conspiracy was an American psychedelic rock band from Los Angeles, active between 1966 and 1970. Formed from the folk-rock group The Ashes, its members included John Merrill (guitar, vocals), Barbara "Sandi" Robison (vocals), Alan Brackett (bass guitar, vocals), Lance Baker Fent (guitar), and Jim Voigt (drums). The band released three studio albums: "The Peanut Butter Conspiracy Is Spreading" (1967), "The Great Conspiracy" (1967), and "For Children of All Ages" (1969). Their music blended folk-rock with psychedelic influences. Although they did not achieve widespread commercial success, their single "It's A Happening Thing" reached number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band disbanded around 1970.
