The Soul Searchers were a funk and soul group from Washington, D.C., led by Chuck Brown, known as the "Godfather of Go-Go". The band formed in 1972 and released their debut album, "We the People". Their second album, "Salt of the Earth" (1974), features the track "Ashley's Roachclip", whose drum break has been widely sampled in hip-hop music. In 1979, they released "Bustin' Loose" with the title track reaching number one on the R&B chart.
