cd - The Tannahill Weavers

The Tannahill Weavers are a Scottish traditional music group formed in 1968 in Paisley. Named after local poet Robert Tannahill and the town's historic weaving industry, they are known for being the first professional Scottish folk band to incorporate the Great Highland Bagpipe into their performances, influencing the sound of Scottish traditional music. Notable albums include "Are Ye Sleeping Maggie" (1976), "The Old Woman's Dance" (1978), and "Tannahill Weavers IV" (1981). In 2011, they were inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. The band continues to actively tour and release new recordings.
