The Walkabouts were an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1984. The core members were vocalist Carla Torgerson and vocalist-songwriter Chris Eckman. Their music blended elements of alternative rock, alternative country, and folk rock. Notable albums include "See Beautiful Rattlesnake Gardens" (1988), "Cataract" (1989), "New West Motel" (1993), and "Devil's Road" (1996). The band achieved commercial success primarily in Europe, where they built a strong fan base. Their music was influenced by artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, and Johnny Cash.
