In July 2021, he recorded the live album "Lonely Songs For Wounded Souls" in Italy with Bob Dylan's bassist Tony Garnier and dobro and pedal steel player Paolo Ercoli. The album features 16 tracks that narrate stories of the Mexican border, sorrow, despair, and love. Mary Gauthier noted: "His songs are packed with rich imagery and instantly relatable sensibilities.
