Thomas Quasthoff is a German bass-baritone known for his extensive repertoire ranging from Bach cantatas to jazz improvisations. Born in Hildesheim, his music career began in 1988 when he won the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. He has released albums such as "The Jazz Album: Watch What Happens" (2007) and "Tell It Like It Is" (2010). Quasthoff has won three Grammy Awards for Best Classical Vocal Performance. In 2012, he announced his retirement from public performance but later returned to performing, including concerts with his jazz quartet.
