Tyrone Washington was an American jazz tenor saxophonist born in 1944. He began his career in Horace Silver's sextet and later collaborated with organist Larry Young. In 1967, he released his debut album "Natural Essence" on the Blue Note label, featuring musicians such as Woody Shaw and James Spaulding. Washington was known for his style influenced by John Coltrane, and his music incorporated elements of hard bop and soul jazz. After 1974, he withdrew from the music scene for religious reasons and adopted the name Mohammad Bilal Abdullah.
