Verneri Pohjola is a Finnish jazz trumpeter and composer, known for his unique style that combines warmth and vibrant improvisation. Born in 1977 in Helsinki, he is the son of renowned bassist Pekka Pohjola. He studied at the Jazz and Pop Conservatory in Helsinki and the Örebro Music School. In 2002, he co-founded the Ilmiliekki Quartet, releasing several albums with the group. As a solo artist, he has released albums such as "Aurora" (2009), "Bullhorn" (2015), and "The Dead Don't Dream" (2020). In 2017, he received the Yrjö Award, Finland's highest honor for a jazz musician. In November 2023, he released the album "Monkey Mind".
