Victoria de los Ángeles was a Spanish soprano born in Barcelona in 1923. She studied at the Conservatori del Liceu and debuted in 1945 as Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro. After winning the Geneva International Music Competition in 1947, she launched an international career, performing in opera houses such as La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Bayreuth Festival. She was renowned for her interpretations of roles like Mimi in La Bohème, Carmen, and Madama Butterfly. Beyond opera, she focused on Spanish songs, recording albums like "Traditional Catalan Songs."
