Wilhelm Furtwängler was a German conductor and composer, renowned for his interpretations of works by Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, and Wagner. Born in Berlin in 1886, he became the principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic in 1922. Throughout his career, he also led the Vienna Philharmonic and was associated with the Bayreuth and Salzburg festivals. During the Nazi regime, he remained in Germany, leading to controversy, though he was exonerated after the war. Furtwängler was known for his passionate and romantic conducting style, influencing many future conductors. He passed away in 1954 in Baden-Baden.
