Aldo Ciccolini was an Italian pianist born in Naples in 1925. He studied at the Naples Conservatory and debuted at the age of 16. In 1949, he won first place at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, launching his international career. He was known for his interpretations of works by French composers such as Erik Satie and Claude Debussy. He recorded the complete piano works of these composers.
