David Gilmore is an American jazz guitarist born in 1964 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He studied at New York University under Joe Lovano and Jim McNeely. In 1987, he began working professionally with the M-Base Collective and Ronald Shannon Jackson. In the 1990s, he was a member of the jazz fusion band Lost Tribe, and in 1995, he joined Wayne Shorter's group. His solo albums include "Ritualism" (2001), "Unified Presence" (2006), and "Transitions" (2017). Gilmore is known for his improvisational approach and integration of various musical styles into his work.
