Focus is a Dutch progressive rock band formed in Amsterdam in 1969 by keyboardist and flautist Thijs van Leer and guitarist Jan Akkerman. The band is known for their instrumental compositions that blend progressive rock, jazz fusion, and baroque rock. Their most notable albums include "Moving Waves" (1971), "Focus 3" (1972), and "Hamburger Concerto" (1974). Their best-known tracks are "Hocus Pocus" and "Sylvia". The band has undergone several breakups and reunions; since 2002, they have been active again, releasing "Focus 12" in 2024. They are considered one of the most influential Dutch rock bands.
